Mixtec of San Cristóbal Amoltepec

San Cristóbal Amoltepec is a municipality located to the east of Tlaxiaco and at the base of the mountain called Cerro Yucunuchi. Because the town is at an altitude of 2200 meters, it has a panoramic view to the south, as can be seen in the photograph. This town has wooded areas and fertile farmland. There are two unpaved roads leading into the town, but no regular bus service and no market day, which means that it is somewhat more isolated than Magdalena, San Agustín, and San Mateo.

Like the other towns, it has its own customs and legends. It also has its own variant form of the language.
